"Merzouga" in Morocco is very important word in Moroccan tourism. Basicaly Merzouga is small village in south-eastern Morocco desert, near Algerian border. And also many people call "Merzouga" as desert , as a place where most of the tourist go to see Sahara. Sahara desert near Merzouga village is called Erg Chebbi.
The dunes of Erg Chebbi reach a height of up to 150 meters and altogether spans an area of 22 kilometers from north to south and up to 5-10 kilometers from east to west.



And here are around 70 Hotels, Auberges, Riads . Some of them are just simple guesthouses , some of them are campings, some of them are small hotels, some of them are very comfortable and attractive resorts with swimming pool, free WIFI. 
I spent many days in this part of Morocco , as i live in Erfoud, which is around 60 km north of Merzouga village. (dunes of Erg Chebbi starts few km after u leave Rissani).

Auberge Les Roches sahara desert

1 perfect night in Auberge Les Roches in Moroccan Sahara desert - Merzouga

 Me ,my family and friend had desert trip to Merzouga and we decided to spend 1 night in Merzouga desert hotel LES ROCHES.

AUBERGE LES ROCHES is typical small - family desert hotel with camping site for caravan cars (camping site is very popular for French ,Spanish visitors).

 The rooms are decorated in typical Berber style and i really liked it. I was really impressed with decoration, style and elegance of the rooms in AUBERGE LES ROCHES.
I can really recommend this desert hotel as cool place for stay as single, couple or family traveler.

The owner / manager Lahcen was very kind and took care about everything we needed that day.
AUBERGE LES ROCHES has perfect location for camel trek or just walking in desert dunes. 

Just from outside of AUBERGE LES ROCHES you can arrange camel trek for stay in desert camp (1 night) or even sunset camel trek. 

 The next day we arranged camel trek to see sunset in Sahara desert - Merzouga. 


Merzouga desert is perfect place for relax and adventure. Just opposite of Merzouga village center is high dune and it is worth to climb it and enjoy sunset in Sahara desert. 

We decided to spent another day in Sahara desert enjoying all desert area around us.

I have visited few hotels in Merzouga before and i can say AUBERGE LES ROCHES has one of the best decorated rooms i have ever seen here in desert.

 In Morocco there are lot of tour companies , most of theme only online based without real business office.

 Some of them are good, some of them NOT. 

 Here is my list of "MUST CHECK THINGS" before you book private Morocco Tour online :

  1. Good Morocco travel company should respond within few hours with correct English
  2. Good Morocco travel company should have all contact (phone number,email) on their website visible very clear
  3. Good Morocco travel company should have attractive website with correct and updated information
  4. Good Morocco travel company should provide all neccessary information before your travelling to Morocco 
  5. Good Morocco travel company should have own tours with own program and itinerary not copied from others.
  6. Good Morocco travel company should have TripAdvisor with trusted reviews. There are lot of fake reviews on TripAdvisor. Be careful when choosing tour company with TripAdvisor. It is easy to recognise trusted reviewers from fake ones. If someone wrote only few reviews for years, his reviews are not so trusted as reviews from someone who wrote 10's / 20's /50's  reviews total.  
  7. Good Morocco travel company should have updated information frequently on Facebook
  8. Good Morocco travel company should have real office in some city in Morocco.
  9. Good Morocco travel company should give you information about deposit payments, cancellation and refund policy 
  10. Good Morocco travel company should provide manager names on their website including phone numbers or emails
  11. Good Morocco travel company should provide you detailed information about your requested tour
  12. Good Morocco travel company should provide you detailed information about guide and drive before your tour starts
  13. Good Morocco travel company should provide actual information and also pictures of vehicles for your private tour
